Overview

It is important to teach routines to children. Having a routine is especially important for children on the autism spectrum. First-then shows children that "first" they will do a task and "then" they will get a reward.

Details

class: Digital Portfolio

duration: 4 weeks

date: January 2018

First-then boards are typically sheets of paper that parents or teachers use to visually display a sequence of activities. Stating first you do one activity such as brushing your teeth and then you get this reward such as getting read a book.

First-Then is completely customizable. It allows the teacher or parent to pick from a selection of cards or create their own using the camera feature.

Once a routine is clicked on such as "morning routine", the routine is broken down into steps. And each step can be assigned a time.

When to use:
+ Use as a visual support for transitions.
+ Use to show a reward or activity that may motivate a student to engage in a less preferred activity.
+ Use with students who ask for reinforcers or preferred activities often
